Alvar Aalto’s asymmetrical vase, inspired by the thousands of lakes found in his native Finland, won a prize at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair. Since that time, the Aalto Vase has become a true icon of Nordic design, even appearing on a Finnish postage stamp. A versatile, striking addition to any home interior, each Aalto Vase goes through a multi-step production process at the Iittala Glass Factory. First, the vase is mouthblown, then hand-cut before undergoing several polishings. As one of the world's most famous glass objects, it makes for a splendid gift.
