Jake Rockwood - Round Tray - Chestnut 11.5"

$80.00

Artist Jake Rockwood creates these hand-turned, plate-like trays from wood sourced from fallen trees located from the farms, orchards, and vineyards around his home in Yamhill County, Oregon. The species used are all locally grown hardwoods such as Oregon White Oak, Black Walnut, Alder, Oregon Big Leaf Maple, Cedar, and Ash.

Rockwood’s approach to wood working is refreshingly straightforward: rather than relying on fancy inlays or exotic woods, the artist uses the natural variations in grain and color to create a piece of beautiful simplicity and singularity. No two trays are exactly alike, but each features a shallow hand-turned foot. Each tray is finished with non-toxic walnut oil and hand-rubbed to a soft luster.
