Bamboo Leaf Incense Holder

The burning of incense is a centuries old tradition in Japan--the Japanese use the phrase koh-do to describe incense appreciation. This cast iron incense holder—in the form of a bamboo leaf—is made by Iwachu Ironworks, located in northern Japan’s Morioka City, the historical center of the craft of nambu-tekki (cast iron). It is finished with a special lacquer known as irushi, that helps prevent rust. It accommodates both cone and stick incense (the hole for stick incense is approximately 1/8" in diameter).
