Ultima Thule Glass Collection

Recalling the icy landscape of the Far North, the distinctive surface effect of this classic design was achieved through a process in which molten glass burns the surface of the wooden molds. Created by one of Finland's most renowned designers, Ultima Thule is likely the most popular design ever produced by Iitala glassworks and helped launch the international reputation of Finnish glass. Wirkkala's other work ranges from furniture to graphic design to bank notes for the National Bank of Finland.
