Braniff Playing Cards

$18.00

This deck of premium playing cards is a tribute to the high flying, design forward world of Braniff Airlines. Airline travel wasn’t always such a tiresome slog—at one point it was stylish and colorful, especially if you were flying on Braniff Airlines in the 1960s. Established in Oklahoma City in 1927, Braniff grew into a multinational airline serving destinations around the globe. Their design transformation occurred in 1965, when Braniff enlisted leading graphic designer Alexander Girard to creatively address the full airline experience. Girard employed vibrant colors, lush fabrics, and crisp midcentury modern design to nearly all aspects of the Braniff travel journey, from brand identity to ticketing offices to airline livery to furniture, interiors and staff uniforms. Aided by an ambitious advertising campaign—“The End of the Plain Plane”—Braniff emerged as the leading tastemaker for international travel. Suitable for all games requiring a standard deck, these playing cards are made of FSC certified paper with crisp, vivid printing.
