Adam+Harborth is a Berlin-based design consultancy with a roster of international clients. Such a pedigree might suggest a certain seriousness, but the designers also put high value on the power of fun and exploration. This clever spin on a music box is made by a small, family run workshop in Germany's famous Black Forest. An 18-note musical movement is inserted into solid blocks of indigenous woods, which are then trimmed by hand into a perfect ball shape by master wood turners. Manual sanding, polishing, and waxing give each ball a silky finish. Wind the key to bring the musical movement inside to life: 'Voi che sapete'—Mozart's poignant declaration of love to love.
