The shared sensibilities of Japanese and Nordic design are apparent in these candleholders that are designed in Finland and produced in Japan. The simple forms were developed around the concept of three-point fixture and rendered in solid brass which is carefully sand cast by hand by skilled artisans. The sand casting contributes the characteristic texture, with the surface left naturally unfinished, allowing it to mellow to a rich patina over time. Produced by Nousaku, a 100-year-old company in Takaoka City, the historical capital of Japanese copper and brass metalworking.
