Viennese designer Walter Bosse first started producing this zoo of animal miniatures in the late 1940s, and they quickly became popular throughout Europe. Today they have been reintroduced in accurate detail as a fully licensed product. The designer's approach is at once playful, minimal, and modern: the expressiveness of each piece relies on the play between the dark oxidized and bright polished surface—a technique for which Bosse was widely admired for.
